Quality Manager

Quality Manager
The Quality Manager role is to assure high quality products and services that satisfy food safety standards, internal/external requirements, including meeting/exceeding customer expectations in compliance with regulatory requirements.
The Quality Manager is responsible for directing quality initiatives and establishing an effective Quality Management System (QMS) for our Terre Haute 24/7 facility. The Quality Manager will initiate and implement quality improvement activities to raise performance standards, educate and train employees as to their impact on the quality management system, and provide strategic direction and leadership for quality systems implementation for the facility. The Quality Manager will lead and direct the Quality functions with a key focus on continuous improvement in a team-based environment.
This position reports to the Director of Operations.
Responsibilities:
Assure that we operate in compliance with our regulatory guidelines.
Liaise with other managers and team members throughout the organization to ensure that the quality management system is functioning properly. Where appropriate, advise on changes and how to implement them and provide training, tools and techniques to enable others to achieve quality standards.
Oversee the day to day operations of the team to support customer and operational needs.
Provide quality support and expertise for Process Engineering, Technical Services, Research & Development regarding new product development activities.
Collaborate with customers' quality and engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design. Approves recommendations to modify film specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production.
Collaborates with internal and external customers to define and document quality assurance requirements for new and existing products. This includes developing measurement methods and statistical sampling plans.
Provide leadership for design reviews, form, fit and function analysis, and by completing necessary customer or internal documentation.
Support Ti's team approach to customer management (sales, quality, operations, tech. services and engineering.).
Provides timely response to customer requests.
Works with customers to coordinate and respond to documentation requests and onsite audits.
Make certain that production and manufacturing lines perform efficiently by providing leadership, direction and clear information regarding product quality, quality systems requirements and operational methods.
Field customer complaints, document corrective actions and provide timely leadership to teams for root cause analysis and solution implementation.
Review and disposition claims in partnership with Sales, Customer Service, and Operations.
Use and promote the use of statistics and other analytical tools for evaluating and improving product quality.
Maintain an effective quality system that meets the requirements of any applicable compliance certificates or regulations.
BRC/Quality Champion (Manages internal audits, 2nd and 3rd party audits, determines nonconformances, acts as Management Representative, completes all required forms including Corrective Action Responses, Manage and enforce Document Control Standards. Host visitors.).
Maintains the document control system.
Manages claims database.
Assures proper revision control of all controlled documents.
Complete trend analysis for quality metrics, such as: customer complaints, rework, and scrap to develop continuous improvement corrective actions.
Monitor and advise on the performance of the quality management system, producing data and reporting on performance, measuring against set standards.
Act as arbiter and translator to reconcile and implement applicable AIB, BRC, GQS and FDA standards and customer requirements.
Act as a final decision-maker for hold and release/control of nonconforming product.
Provide disposition for non-conforming material.
Act as Quality Engineer for all subcontracted activities, including approval process.
Provide support to Canada and Latin America locations (Supports sales reps, tech. services and distributors on quality and customer related issues.)
Leads efforts to maintain, improve and implement the overall quality management system.
Utilize data driven, structured problem-solving approach to continuous improvement.
Be a change agent: challenge the organization and help remove organizational barriers.
Lead cross-functional continuous improvement projects designed to analyze customer/operational data to improve efficiencies.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, applied physics, chemistry or a related field is preferred or equivalent experience is required.
Recognition by ASQ as a CQE (Certified Quality Engineer/Auditor), CRE (Certified Reliability Engineer), or CQ-OEM (Certified Manager Quality - Organizational Excellence) is a plus.
7-10 years' experience in Quality and Continuous Improvement
7-10 years' experience operating under a certified Quality Management System (ISO experience preferred.)
Film experience dealing with plastic and plastic processes or paper industry is preferred.
Six Sigma experience preferred, minimally Green Belt level a plus.
Food Safety/Food Contact experience preferred. (AIB, BRC, SQF)
Opti-Vision and SAP experience is preferred.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Proactive and acts without being prompted.
Supervisory experience.
20% travel is required, along with limited international travel may be required to support the Americas.
Communication - demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional work groups including suppliers, customers and associates, both verbally and in writing. Excellent listening skills are required.
Diplomacy - skilled at handling situations without arousing hostility. Forge coalitions.
Project Management Skills
Computer Skills: In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Experience with other quality software applications beneficial. (e.g. statistical analysis)
Strong negotiation skills

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
